Day 25

During yesterday’s big city rest day, I saw a 13th century cathedral that took a hundred years to build and Roman walls that are two centuries old. Yet, the experience yesterday I cannot stop thinking of was eating! I had a giant stir fry at a little Asian place and it is haunting my dreams. Spanish food is awesome but the version of it you get on then trail is mostly something a one-man-band bar manager can make while he’s still tending bar. (This means lots of pre-made sandwiches and ready made tortilla, which is the Spanish version of a quiche.) After a few days on the trail, the thought of a fresh, al dente cooked vegetable will send your heart into throbbing palpations! And yesterday I finally got some. It looked like everyone had the same idea as me - everybody in the restaurant was a pilgrim and as soon as their plates got set in front of them they would whisper-scream in delight.
